Adi was born and raised in Israel, and began studying the piano
with her mother at the age of seven. At the encouragement of
her mother, who had always wanted to play the flute, Adi switched
from the piano to the flute when she was 10. It was love at
first sound! Adi realized that she had a lot of fun playing
the flute and that it came very naturally to her. A few months
later, she broke her arm in summer camp and couldn't play the

for a whole month! It was then that she realized how
much she missed playing and decided she wanted to become a professional
flutist. Adi moved to the United States while in the seventh grade,
and continued to play her flute in several youth orchestras and bands
in the New York area. Playing music really helped her while she was
learning to speak English because music is a universal language. She
played as a soloist with several different orchestras in some beautiful
concert halls while she was still a teenager and entered The Juilliard
School at age 16. The thing that Adi loves the most about being a
musician is traveling around the world performing concerts and getting
to meet lots of interesting people along the way! In her spare time,
Adi really enjoys watching figure skating on TV and hopes to play
with a skater one day!

The flute is one of the oldest instruments and it has been found
in almost every culture. It is the only woodwind instrument that
does not use a reed to make a sound. Instead, sound is produced
on the flute by blowing across the mouthpiece, just as you might
blow across the top of a bottle. Early flutes were made of wood
and played vertically, like a recorder, but modern day flutes are
known as transverse flutes and are played horizontally. The flute
used to be made out of wood, but today most flutes are made of silver,
gold, or even platinum. The flute is still a part of the woodwind
family because of its wooden history, but the metal flute is able
to play louder notes that can be heard at the back of any concert
hall. The flute can also play some of the highest and fastest notes
you will ever hear!!
